After Mr. Baumann successfully completed his
academic legal studies, he successfully completed the two-year traineeship which
is a requirement for becoming a lawyer in Germany, in Berlin. This program,
called “Rechtsreferendariat,”
is similar to but more extensive than that of an articling student
in Canada, in that it involves rotations among different kinds of
practical legal work, such as assisting a judge, a prosecutor, an
in-house counsel and a lawyer in private practice. As part of such
rotations Mr. Baumann did practical training at Polten & Hodder
in 2006, and returned to be employed as a Legal Assistant in 2008. He
has developed a deep attachment to the Canadian legal system, and in
addition to his practical work at Polten & Hodder is seeking to work
towards a Master of Law degree in Canada. |
